What is the secret to eating healthy?
In this day and age, time constraints can lead us to make more unhealthy decisions. While I am on the road checking in on our nine Active Body franchise locations in the Vancouver area, even I sometimes have the urge to cheat on my meal plan. Healthy food is sometimes replaced with fast food because it is quick and convenient. With fast food there is no time involved in cooking, planning the meals, measuring portions, or counting calories. This can be a nice break once in a while, but it is important not to deviate too far from your meal plan.
You don’t need to beat yourself up if you cheat on your diet plan. Instead, focus on making positive changes wherever possible and continually self improving. The human body needs a variety of healthy fats, minerals, proteins, amino acids, vitamins, and carbohydrates.
A lot of people start their morning eating bread and enjoying a cup of coffee or even taking caffeine pills. This trend tends to leave people feeling tired and they have diminished their immune system response and increased acidity in their body. The release of insulin, a hormone secreted in the pancreas, increases and makes your body retain fat.
Instead of eating bread and coffee in the morning, drink 500 ml of water and squeeze fresh lemon juice in it. Next up is a fresh fruit smoothie with almond milk, protein powder, spinach and a small amount of natural honey. Sometimes I like to add natural peanut butter in the smoothie as well, depending on my mood! This smoothie can be changed daily to add variety and keep you on your diet plan. You can mix it with water, coconut water, or almond milk. This tastes great and it is a fantastic way to give your body and mind everything it needs to be productive through the day!
