The Wealthy Franchise receives many inquires about the legal franchise, and we thought it would be best to put together a frequently asked questions page about the opportunity. Once you have read about the legal franchise, please share this article on your social media so that you can get feedback.

Here are a list of the questions we get asked most. If you have additional questions, please text us at 778-676-3808

How am I able to invest in a law firm being a non-lawyer?

You can’t invest in a law firm in Canada as a non-lawyer. In England and Washington DC they recently changed the laws so non-lawyers can be shareholders in law firms. We expect the laws to change in Canada in the next two years. There are already discussions. Read this article that appeared in the Globe and Mail under the title “Let non-lawyers own law firms: Canadian Bar Association.

Then how can I purchase a Hart Legal franchise?

Non-lawyers invest in a management company, called Hart Management Inc. Please contact Hart Legal for more information or text us at 778—676—3808. Our business structure has been approved by the law society. We have spent tons of money and time making sure they are compliant with all law society regulations and securities laws.

Does Hart Legal charge management fees or royalties?

No they don’t. Hart Legal has a unique franchise structure. Since they are the first legal franchise in Canada (that we could find) they wanted to do something innovative. Within the management companies, they offer profit shares instead of charging royalties. This puts everyone in the same boat.

Isn’t the legal industry very competitive?

Yes, because there is a lot of money to be made. Clients hire the lawyers, not the law firms. Often when a lawyer leaves a law firm, they go with the lawyer. In order for Hart Legal to succeed, they need to find the best lawyers who can serve their clients and give them a 5 star experience. Hiring a family lawyer is never fun, but you can at least give the client the best experience possible and value for their dollars spent.

How long has Hart Legal been in business?

HART Legal is a successful family law firm with locations in Victoria, Vancouver, Toronto, Edmonton and Calgary. While the name has changed a few times over the years, HART Legal has been in business since 1992 when it opened its first office in Victoria, British Columbia.

How is your franchise expansion going?

Hart Legal has done extremely well. They have opened law firms in Victoria, Vancouver, Surrey, Calgary, Edmonton, Regina, Toronto and Beverly Hills. There are other satellite offices as well, where clients can meet the lawyers.

What areas of law does Hart Legal practice in?

HART Legal is a boutique litigation firm that markets and practices primarily in the areas of family and divorce law, estate litigation and vehicle accident claims. We also have lawyers that practice in other areas of litigation including commercial, tax and collections and we assist some clients with estate administration.

How do you spend the marketing dollars when you open a new law firm?

Most of the work that Hart Legal gets comes from referrals from other law firms. When we go into a new city, we always contact other law firms that do not do family law. We then either send them the type of work that they do (maybe criminal law) or if we do not have any criminal law files, we can pay them a referral fee.

For paid advertising, we believe that online advertising best. We focus our marketing dollars on SEO (search engine optimization) and pay-per click (mostly Google Ads and sometimes Facebook ads.)

Please note that if you are a SEO or PPC company reading this blog, we already have an in house marketing team and we are not looking to hire a marketing company.
